About the speaker: Dr. Ru is Assistant Professor at Auburn University, where she leads the blueberry breeding program. The main goals of the program, which focuses on southern highbush blueberry and rabbiteye blueberry, include the improvement of spring frost tolerance, early maturity, disease resistance and fruit quality using high-throughput phenotyping. About the speaker: Dr. Whitaker is Professor of Horticulture and strawberry breeder. His applied research program focuses on elucidating the genetics of important traits in strawberry and developing new cultivars, working closely with regional growers associations.
